Whatcha doin is exactly what primitive r b rock roll sounds like in the hands of five young white boys who have a keen appreciation of fuzz toned guitars and a knack for great hooks. Mentored by los angeles producer kim fowley the band signed a record deal with sub pop in 1998. Pressed on summer sun colored vinyl at third man pressing in the cass corridor detroit. The production courtesy of outrageous cherry s matthew smith is as raunchy and retro as the band s old school rave ups and definitely highlights the vocals and buzzing guitars over the simple sloppy rhythm section.

In sw detroit winter 1999 a few days before the go entered the studio to record the whatcha doin lp. Their first album whatcha doin featured dave buick on bass and jack white on guitar.
